Project Overview
West Park Place, Edinburgh, proposed the demolition of an existing garage complex to create a new student apartment block. Met Consultancy first became involved on this project in 2011 when the site was still occupied with multiple buildings.
GeoEnvironmental Service Overview
A desktop study revealed the site has been occupied by a picture house, garage and post office. An initial site investigation was performed including under challenging conditions in the restricted basement of the existing building. Once demolished and major earthworks had occurred, we undertook further investigation. A full suite of environmental testing including gas monitoring was also undertaken which provided the basis for the remediation statement. Once construction was complete, Met Engineers compiled a validation report for the site, allowing the relevant planning conditions to be discharged.
