April, 2016Fox Valley Set to Open

Final phase development at Fox Valley, Sheffield, is nearing completion, a decade since Met started work on this major regeneration scheme.

Led by retail property developers, Dransfield Properties Ltd, Fox Valley effectively delivers a new 136,000 sq ft town centre in north Sheffield with major retail and leisure provision, high-specification office space, industrial warehousing and residential development with associated parking and transport infrastructure across a 28-acre former steelworks site.

Met has been involved in this scheme since its inception over a decade ago,  initially providing drainage and flood protection assessments and designs and flood barrier spanning the entire site, and have since conducted all structural and civil engineering analysis, design and detailing from foundations to superstructures.

“This is undoubtedly one of the largest and more challenging schemes we have worked on and given its prominence to the regional economy, one we are extremely proud to be associated with,” says Met director Ian Lang.

“Such a large site presented varying ground conditions to consider which required detailed design work for the sub structure works across the site over many years, ranging from typical pads, RC ground beams, piles and remedial works in the form of vibro compaction.”

Met has worked with main contractors Henry Boot Construction on the mixed-use retail,  leisure and commercial elements and Stonebridge Homes for the delivery of 118 new homes development.,

The £50m scheme supported by Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme is expected to create up to 900 new jobs.
